Male Best Reduction surgery is a safe procedure for men with heavier breasts. Gynecomastia is the medical term used to describe enlargement of male breasts caused by the deposition of excess glandular tissue, fatty tissue or both. It can affect one or both breasts and sometimes unevenly. The most common cause of gynecomastia is Idiopathic which means there is no cause. It can also result from hormonal imbalance of androgens(male hormone) and estrogens(female hormones) as seen in newborns, pubertal boys and old men. Gynecomastia seen in puberty may resolve after few months. The other causes may be liver dysfunction, marijuana use, anabolic steroids , and side effects of certain medications. If a medical cause is suspected, you will be referred to an endocrinologist for further assessment.

Though it is a benign condition, it can be a source of distress and embarrassment for men suffering from gynecomastia. Male breast reduction can help you come out of all this embarrassment and live up with your self esteem.

Breast reduction surgery to correct gynecomastia can be done in healthy, emotionally stable men. The best candidates are men with firm, elastic skin which recontours the shape of the chest wall. The surgery for Gynecomastia or male breast reduction is customized according as per each patient’s requirement. It can be just a liposuction if the tissue is primarily fatty in nature. In a typical case, a small incision is done in an inconspicuous location –either along the areola or along breast fold and using an ultrasound assisted or power-assisted machine liposuction is performed. More severe cases may require a combination of liposuction with excision of glandular tissue. In extreme cases your surgeon may also suggest excision of loose skin to obtain good aesthetic results.

Following the breast reduction surgery, you will be advised to avoid strenuous exercises for a few weeks. You will be given a pressure garment to wear for 6 weeks which helps the skin to adhere to the chest wall and contour it.
